Jesse Mitchell Jr Interview

BloodyKnux.com- You’ve got a match this coming Saturday at Operation Octagon 13 at Dulles SportsPlex in Sterling Virginia. What do you know about your opponent?

Jesse Mitchell Jr.- Since he’ a last minute fill in all I know is he’s 1-1 in Muay Thai and this Muay Thai match.

BK-This is your first MauyThai match? (Operation Octagon’s Day of Combat will have MT matches from 3-5:30pm)

JM- I’ve done tournaments and full contact karate, but this will be my first one on one Muay Thai match.

BK- Why a Mauy Thai match?

JM- It’ll be what I’m use to, I’m used to traditional martial art, just stand up, so it’ll be going back to basics for me.

BK- Do you prefer MMA,?

JM- I’ve done MMA a lot,, so I asked for Muay Thai match, when I saw they had them this Saturday.

BK-Where do you train?

JM- I train out of Royal Martial Arts in Waldorf Maryland. I’ve been there for over 6 years, but I’ve been training for over 20 years. I started when I was five. My mom saw I was into those type movies, and jumping around the house, so she put me in and I stayed with it.

BK- Do you plan to go professional?

JM- That’s the plan, I need to work out all the kinks in my game and then when I’m ready, make the jump up to pro.

BK- You’ve held some amateur titles, which ones?

JM- I have the 155 belt in Operation Octagon, and I also have the GCA belt at 170 through Legend promotions.

BK- Which weight class do you prefer to fight at?

JM- I prefer 155, because it makes me work harder. I feel like I take it too easy a when I only have to make 170.

BK- When will you defend your Operation Octagon Belt?

JM- I should be facing Mike Pope, probably at the show after February to defend my belt.

BK- Are there any sponsors who support your training?

JM- Yeah, I’ve got some great sponsors, Guillotine Fight Wear, Royal Martial Arts, LA Boxing, and Tactical Airsoft Arena and Pinnacle Performance Strength and Conditioning.

BK- Good talking to you, and good luck Saturday.

JM- Thanks it’s a pleasure.

Check out Jesse’s Muay Thai match in the afternoon, and an evening of MMA action at Operation Octagon 13 “Day of Combat”.
